Impersonation intended to deceive
Presenting a synthetic video as genuine footage of a real person, including fabricated statements from public figures, officials, journalists or brands.
This acceptable use policy sets the boundaries for every video rendered on ActLike AI. Face swapping is powerful technology, so the rules need to be unambiguous rather than buried in legal appendices.
These rules summarise the ActLike AI Terms of Use, which are the binding version. Breaking them can cost you access to the app.
The ActLike AI acceptable use policy allows videos made from footage and photos you own or have permission to use, including original characters described in words. It prohibits impersonation, non-consensual use of anyone’s likeness, explicit content, content involving minors, harassment and fraud. Breaking these rules can cost you access to the app.
One rule sits above everything else in this acceptable use policy: you must own or have explicit permission to use every face you upload.
That covers your own face, a colleague who agreed, a model with a signed release, or a client who supplied the material and confirmed they hold the rights. It does not cover a photo found online, a celebrity, or someone you know who has not been asked.
This rule comes straight from the ActLike AI Terms of Use, which require any legally required consent from every person whose face, voice or likeness appears in your content.
The following uses are prohibited outright under this acceptable use policy. The list is not exhaustive, and we apply judgement to anything designed to work around its intent.
Presenting a synthetic video as genuine footage of a real person, including fabricated statements from public figures, officials, journalists or brands.
Rendering anyone who has not agreed to it. This is the rule broken most often, and it is the one we enforce most strictly.
Any sexual, nude or suggestive material, involving anyone, consenting or otherwise. There is no exception to this.
Any render featuring a person under 18, in any context.
Targeting a private individual, or producing content that ridicules, threatens or defames a specific person.
Fake testimonials presented as real customers, forged identity verification, or any use designed to obtain money or data dishonestly.
Synthetic media about candidates, voting or emergencies where a viewer could reasonably mistake it for real footage.
Attempting to bypass safety measures, exploit the credit or payment systems, or copy, scrape or reverse engineer the app.
Our acceptable use policy treats disclosure as part of using the tool responsibly. Where a platform offers an AI content label, use it. Several regions now require disclosure by law when synthetic media features a real person, and major social platforms require it in their own terms.
Meeting that obligation is your responsibility as the publisher, not ours as the tool. However, we will always side with disclosure: if you are unsure whether a video needs a label, label it.
Anyone can report content through our contact page. Reports about a person's own likeness are treated as a priority and reviewed as quickly as possible.
If you believe an enforcement decision was wrong, reply to the notification email with your reasoning. A person reviews every appeal, and we do overturn decisions when the evidence supports it.
If someone rendered your likeness without permission, contact us with a link or description of the content and we will act on it. You do not need an account with us, and you do not need to prove ownership of the original footage.
We will remove the render, act against the account responsible, and confirm the outcome to you. Under the privacy policy, you can also request deletion of any personal data connected to it.
What people ask about the rules before they start.
Only use videos and photos you own or have permission to use. If you could not comfortably show the finished video to the person whose face appears in it, do not make it.
